Special Issues Policy

This policy covers both special issues and conference papers.

NJRST may publish special issues or collections devoted to focused themes, important workshops, conferences, emerging research areas or topics of national, regional or international significance.

Special issues should align with the journal’s aims and scope and should make a clear scholarly contribution. Proposals should demonstrate the significance of the theme, its relevance to the journal’s readership and its potential to attract high-quality contributions from suitably qualified authors.

Prospective guest editors or organisers should contact the editorial office before preparing a full proposal. Proposals will be reviewed by the editorial team.

Acceptance of a special issue proposal does not guarantee publication of all submissions received for the issue. All manuscripts submitted for a special issue are subject to the journal’s normal editorial screening, peer-review process, publication ethics requirements and editorial standards.

Guest editors may assist with developing calls for papers, identifying potential contributors and reviewers, advising on the suitability of submissions and supporting the editorial process. Final editorial decisions remain with the NJRST editorial team.

Where a conflict of interest exists, including where a guest editor submits work to the special issue, the journal will ensure that the submission is handled independently.

Submissions that are not accepted for a special issue may, where appropriate, be considered for a regular issue. NJRST reserves the right to postpone, revise or cancel a special issue if there are insufficient suitable submissions, delays in the editorial process, quality concerns, ethical concerns or misalignment with the journal’s scope.
