Background and History
The Namibian Journal for Research, Science and Technology (NJRST) is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal published by the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST). The journal provides a national platform for Namibian researchers, scholars and practitioners to publish and share research across the natural sciences, applied sciences, technology, humanities and social sciences.
NJRST was established by NCRST as part of its mandate to promote research, science, technology and innovation in Namibia. NCRST describes the journal as an avenue for bringing together work from both the natural sciences and the humanities/social sciences, recognising that contemporary research increasingly requires interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches.
The journal’s purpose is to support knowledge dissemination, increase the visibility of Namibian research, enhance recognition for Namibian researchers and institutions, and contribute to research development and knowledge advancement in the country.
Focus and Scope
The Namibian Journal for Research, Science and Technology (NJRST) publishes peer-reviewed research and commentary in pure, applied and allied sciences and technology, as well as in the humanities and social sciences. The journal is multidisciplinary in orientation and welcomes contributions that advance research, knowledge dissemination and scholarly debate in Namibia and beyond.
In the sciences, NJRST addresses the needs of researchers and practitioners across fields such as mathematics, statistics, econometrics, biology, chemistry, physics, public health, medicine, education, mining, geology, computing, food, agriculture and engineering. The journal seeks to promote methodological rigour in pure and applied sciences and to contribute to the development of strong research and publication practices, especially among emerging researchers.
As an interdisciplinary publication, NJRST also accepts research articles and critical analyses in the humanities and social sciences. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, linguistics, literature, history, jurisprudence, philosophy, archaeology, religion, ethics, arts criticism and theory, education, sociology, psychology, anthropology, economics, political science, geography, media and information studies, development studies, criminology and African studies.
NJRST publishes original research articles, invited papers with discussion and rejoinder, case studies, review articles, tutorials, book chapters, book reviews and notices. The journal may also publish special issues based on important workshops, conferences or thematic research areas. Refer to the Special Issues Policy.
